Nokia Care Suite is the official service software to test, repair, and update firmware on Nokia phones. The suite comprises a set of utilities to perform firmware-related tasks on Nokia devices, including testing device parameters, downloading official ROMs, refurbishing supported models, resetting software, phone recovery, changing language, among other options. NCS supports most Nokia phone models and works on Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
Once exclusively used by Nokia Care personnel, the Nokia Care Suite has become a popular tool among users who want to flash, modify, and recover their phones without resorting to customer service. However, in spite of its intuitive, user-friendly nature, it should be employed with care by users with the necessary experience and knowledge, since an improper use of the program may result in a damaged phone. It is also advisable to back up any important data before connecting your phone to NCS.
With that said, Nokia Care Suite consists of five modules that are neatly arranged in an application launcher: Fuse, Multi IMEI Reader, Multi Software Updater and Product Support Tool for Store. Fuse is a Connection Manager and as such, it handles the connectivity between your phone and PC. Multi IMEI Reader provides detailed hardware info, including the device IMEI, and provides several printing options. Multi Software Updater lets you update and refurbish multiple devices in one single operation. Product Support Tool for Store, in turn, includes options to find the latest stock ROMs. You can also Refurbish your device, which is basically a hard reset on your phone, and use the Recovery option, which will completely wipe your device and flash an updated ROM to it. Additionally, the Troubleshooting module generates log files packed in a .zip file.
During my test on Windows 7, Nokia Care Suite required me to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package, providing a direct link to the .exe pack. After that, installation ran smoothly and without complications. The suite was also tested on Windows 8.1 and 10 and I can confirm it works perfectly on both platforms.
